Traction Engine

A traction engine has nothing to hide — gears meshing, pistons ready, every working part built for grinding work rather than speed. The boiler and chimney are built from watch parts and reclaimed engineering parts, their bright brass and steel tones giving the piece the appearance of polished surfaces to all the cogs, springs, gauges, and the copper wire representing the pipes along the body. The wheels are old plumbing gate valve handles, their cast spokes and worn handwheel edges standing in perfectly for the deep-tread wheels of the real machine, right down to the texture.

Stoptick Art

As each sculpture is made individually from salvaged components, no two pieces are ever identical: the parts available at the time shape the final texture, tone, and character of the piece. Your finished sculpture will follow the same silhouette and craftsmanship shown here, but will be its own one-of-a-kind creation, built from its own unique selection of reclaimed parts.

Additional Information

This sculpture takes that same honest, industrious spirit and builds it from salvaged clock, watch, and engineering components- pieces that once quietly kept time or turned machinery of their own, now reassembled into a tribute to the real Every component has been salvaged and repurposed from its original life, so the wear, patina, and finish will vary from piece to piece, making each engine entirely one of a kind. within a complementary frame, the sculpture blends industrial steampunk character with vintage heritage.  The reclaimed horology metal elements catch the light with subtle glimmers, adding texture and intrigue to the piece.
